50 km away at Karkala, 14 m high idol of Gomoteswar (Bahubali) is carved out of the rock in1432 AD. lt is a famous holy place of Jains. On the way is the highly crafted quadrangular Basti. VENUR:
A holy place of Jains on the way to Dharmasthali 18 km to the east of Karkala is situated the famous 11 m idolof Gomateswar , built in 1604. The ruins of Mahadev Temple is also at Vennur.

Situated on the bank of river Nethravati, 41 km towards Mangalore-Belur way (75 km from Mangalore),Dharmasthali is a famous Jain pilgrim centre.It is also famous for the highly carved temple of Manjunathswami.
